United Airlines Lifts Ground Stop; Domestic Flights Resume | Update
International flights were not affected.

Just after 8 p.m., United Airlines said the ground stop on domestic flights has been lifted. The airline apologized for the incident via Twitter.

United Airlines was forced to ground all domestic flights Sunday evening after a nationwide computer glitch.
The ground stop was reportedly slated to be in effect until 7 p.m. Central time.

But just after 7 p.m., the airline tweeted, "A ground stop is in place for domestic flights due to an IT issue. We’re working on a resolution. We apologize for the inconvenience."
Travelers took to social media to complain about delays and other travel issues, including a flight landing in what one passenger described as "total darkness."

Officials told NBC News that the Aircraft Communications Addressing and Reporting System, or ACARS, was having low-bandwidth issues.
The ground stop did not affect international flights or flights from Hawaii or Alaska, according to ABC 7 Chicago.
