'Unruly' Passenger Assaults Flight Attendant On United Flight: Police

A passenger video shows a woman holding a young child, appearing to confront the flight attendant. No serious injuries were reported.

CHICAGO — An angry passenger had to be forcibly removed from a United flight at Chicago O'Hare International Airport early Sunday morning because of a reported altercation with a flight attendant.

Chicago police were called to the terminal for a report of a “disruptive passenger” at 6:02 a.m. when the Flight 476 from San Francisco landed at O’Hare. Officers removed the passenger from the plane.

A CPD spokesperson said that "three occupants of the plane were transported to Resurrection Hospital for observation."

A video from a passenger posted on Twitter shows a woman holding a young child standing in the aisle, screaming, “where is this?” Somebody says, “ma’am, we are landing.” A male flight attendant joins a female flight attendant, while somebody else says, “Sarah, step back.” The passenger holding the child is seen approaching the flight attendant, when the video cuts off.

The FAA also confirmed the incident in a statement and said there were no serious injuries.

“A disruptive customer on a flight from San Francisco to Chicago was removed by law enforcement upon landing on Sunday, and one member of the flight attendant crew was taken to a hospital for evaluation," the spokesperson said. "We're grateful to our crew for handling this difficult situation with professionalism and for putting the safety of our team and our customers first.”

No arrests have been announced.
