Warm Halloween and Temps in 70s This Week

A look at this week's weather forecast for the Chicago area.

You will not need to bundle up the kids for trick-or-treating on Monday.

Temperatures between 58 and 64 degrees are in the forecast during the day on Halloween and should be between 56 and 61 degrees from 6 to 9 p.m. when many will be heading out to trick-or-treat in the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service. South winds between 10 to 20 mph are expected Monday.

While Halloween will be warm, the hottest temperatures of the week are forecast for Tuesday. Highs in the lower 70s are expected and partly sunny skies.

The rest of the week, and as we head into the weekend, should see temps in the 60s for the Chicago area, according to the National Weather Service.

There is a slight chance for rain and thunderstorms on Tuesday night. There is also a slight chance for showers and thunderstorms Wednesday evening with an 80 percent chance of rain after midnight.

Here is a more detailed look at this week’s weather forecast for the Chicago area.

  • Sunday night: Partly cloudy. Lows in the lower 40s in the suburbs... But in the mid 40s downtown. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph in the evening becoming east after midnight.
  • Monday: Partly cloudy. Highs around 60. Southeast winds 10 to 20 mph.
  • Monday Night: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the upper 50s. South winds 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.
  • Tuesday: Partly sunny. Unseasonably warm. Highs in the lower 70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
  • Tuesday Night: Mostly cloudy with chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms. Lows in the upper 50s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 30 percent.
  • Wednesday: Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms. Highs in the upper 60s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
  • Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy. Showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening...then a chance of showers after midnight. Lows in the lower 50s. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
  • Thursday: Partly cloudy in the morning then becoming mostly sunny. Highs in the lower 60s.
  • Thursday Night Through Sunday: Mostly clear. Lows in the mid 40s in the suburbs...but in the upper 40s downtown. Highs in the lower 60s.
