Chicago-Area Weather Forecast: Warm Temps Return / Thunderstorms and Snow Possible

Warmer temperatures are expected to return for the start of this week.

Partly cloudy skies and high temps between 46 and 54 degrees are expected on Monday with a slight chance of evening showers, according to the National Weather Service. On Tuesday, temps are expected to warm even more with high temps between 57 and 67 degrees for the Chicago area. Showers and a chance for thunderstorms are also in the forecast on Tuesday.

Temps will cool again by mid-week, according to the National Weather Service. High temps in the 40s are expected on Wednesday and should be in the 30s on Thursday and Friday. Light rain or snow showers are possible during the day on Thursday and Thursday night.

• Rest of Sunday: Partly cloudy. Scattered sprinkles in the evening. Lows from the mid to upper 20s west and north suburbs to the lower 30s in the city. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Monday: Partly cloudy. Highs around 50...except mid 40s along the lake north of chicago. South winds 10 to 15 mph.
• Monday Night: Mostly cloudy. Showers likely after midnight. Lows from the upper 30s north to the lower 40s south. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
• Tuesday: Cloudy. Chance of showers in the morning, then a chance of showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs from the upper 50s north suburbs to the lower 60s south. South winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 40 percent.
• Tuesday Night: Showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the evening, then showers likely after midnight. Lows from near 40 north to the lower 40s city and south. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph in the evening becoming west 5 to 10 mph after midnight. chance of precipitation 80 percent.
• Wednesday: Cloudy. Showers likely in the morning, then a chance of showers in the afternoon. Rain may mix with snow north in the afternoon. Highs 40 to 45...then falling into the mid to upper 30s by evening. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.
