Warmer, Dry Weekend Ahead For Illinois

Highs in the 80s are expected on Saturday and Sunday, according to the National Weather Service.

ILLINOIS — Storms are expected Friday, before the weather dries out and warms up for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.

Showers and a few storms will develop Friday afternoon through the early evening, the weather service said. Skinny funnel clouds may also develop Friday, the weather service said. These funnel clouds normally extend a few hundred feed downward, rotate or spin, and dissipate after a few minutes.

Severe weather is not expected with the storms, but torrential downpours are possible, the weather service said.

The rest of the weekend looks to be dry, although there is a small chance of showers late Sunday night, according to the weather service.

Saturday will have a high of 82 degrees, and Sunday a high of 86. The weather service said Sunday could be windy with gusts as high as 25 mph.
