WEEKEND WEATHER: Temps In 70s, Isolated Thunderstorms

This weekend will see a mix of warmer temperatures and thunderstorms.

On Friday, unseasonably warm high temps between 65 and 74 degrees are in the forecast for the Chicago area. It's also expected to be windy on Friday before a cold front drops into far northern Illinois later this afternoon and into the evening.

A few thunderstorms are also possible later this afternoon and evening as a cold front sags south across the region, but more widespread thunderstorms are expected later this evening and overnight. Severe weather is not expected.

A few periodic thunderstorms are possible Saturday through midday Sunday but severe weather is not expected during these storms. High temps between 49 and 66 degrees are in the forecast for Saturday and between 53 and 63 degrees on Sunday.

• FRIDAY: Mostly cloudy. Breezy. Unseasonably warm. Highs in the lower 70s. Southwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 30 mph.
• FRIDAY NIGHT: Showers and a chance of thunderstorms. Patchy fog. Lows in the upper 40s. Southeast winds 10 to 15 mph in the evening becoming east 5 to 10 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation 80 percent.
• SATURDAY: Showers and a slight chance of thunderstorms in the morning, then showers in the afternoon. Patchy fog. Highs in the mid 50s to lower 60s. Highs in the upper 50s inland...but only in the mid 50s near the lake. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 90 percent.
• SATURDAY NIGHT: Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms. Patchy fog. Lows in the upper 40s. East winds 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation 70 percent.
• SUNDAY: Cloudy. Patchy fog in the morning. Showers likely and a chance of thunderstorms in the morning, then a chance of showers in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 50s. South winds 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
• SUNDAY NIGHT: Mostly cloudy. Lows in the mid 40s.
• MONDAY: Cloudy. Slight chance of showers in the morning, then showers likely in the afternoon. Highs in the upper 50s. Chance of precipitation 60 percent.
