Jaime Adrian, an emerging out artist known for his bold creativity and genre-blending approach, is set to captivate listeners with his reimagined dance version of George Michael's timeless hit "Careless Whisper." This fresh take on the classic, titled "I'm Never Gonna Dance Again," breathes new life into the iconic ballad by transforming it into a futuristic, pulsating dance anthem. With its infectious energy, the track is poised to become a staple on club floors worldwide, showcasing Adrian's continued evolution as an artist who is unafraid to blend nostalgia with modern flair.

The journey to this release began in an unlikely setting—while Jaime Adrian was working a shift at Sidetrack, a well-known video bar in Chicago. As the original version of "Careless Whisper" played, a flood of memories came rushing back to him. "I gay gasped immediately because I forgot how much I loved the song," Adrian recalls. The haunting saxophone riff and George Michael's smooth vocals struck a chord deep within him.

"Later that night, I wanted to hear it again, but the club was too busy to play a ballad, and there weren’t any remixes I’d heard," he explains. This sparked a realization that led to the creation of "I'm Never Gonna Dance Again": "I thought to myself, Velvet (Code) and I should do a dance remix!"

The collaboration between Adrian and Velvet Code, a renowned producer known for his work with LGBTQ+ artists, quickly took shape. When Velvet Code shared the initial take on the remix, Adrian was immediately hooked. "I fell even more in love with the new version," he says, recalling how the song had been completely reimagined while retaining the emotional depth that made the original so beloved. With driving beats and shimmering electronic elements, "I'm Never Gonna Dance Again" fuses the classic with the contemporary, creating a club-ready anthem that still carries the emotional weight of heartbreak and regret.

This release is more than just a creative reinterpretation of a beloved song; it represents a significant milestone in Jaime Adrian's artistic journey. Reflecting on his growth, Adrian says, "The more music Velvet and I do, the more comfortable I become as an artist. If you told me we’d be here two years ago, I’d laugh in your face." For Adrian, this journey has been about more than just crafting catchy tunes—it’s about finding his voice, refining his artistic identity, and paying homage to the icons who inspired him along the way.

Growing up on the east side of Chicago in a Mexican and Catholic neighborhood, Adrian often felt like an outsider. "Kids made fun of me for being different," he shares. His father passed away when he was just 17, leaving his mother to raise him and his younger siblings alone. Amidst these challenges, music became an important outlet for him, and George Michael was a figure who stood out. "As a gay kid, the photo of George Michael in his aviators, leather jacket, white shirt, and blue jeans with his guitar made a lasting impression on me," Adrian reminisces. "I would stare at it for no reason except maybe I wanted to be him when I grew up."

As Adrian matured, he developed a deeper appreciation for George Michael's artistry and authenticity. "He is definitely one performer I wish I had the chance to see live," Adrian reflects. "Watching his shows online and seeing how much the crowd truly loved him is really inspiring. There was no gimmick, no tricks. He was just authentically himself. That’s what I want to achieve as an artist." With "I'm Never Gonna Dance Again," Jaime Adrian not only honors the legacy of George Michael but also carves out his own space in the music world—one where authenticity reigns supreme.
