Who Have Illinois Newspapers Endorsed In March Primaries

We've got a running list and links to endorsements for competitive primary races in Illinois.

Newspapers across Illinois have been endorsing candidates ahead of upcoming primaries. With just a few weeks to go before the March 20 election and early voting set to begin around the state, there are competitive races for governor, attorney general, Congress, the General Assembly and other races, so we've put together a running list of endorsements.

With billionaires on both sides of the gubernatorial contest, the 2018 Illinois election is projected to be among the most expensive in history. The current record of $280 million was set in the 2010 California race between Gov. Jerry Brown and former HP CEO, Meg Whitman. Illinois is on pace to exceed that total, the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform told CBS News last year.

Endorsements from newspapers are made by the editorial boards separately from newsrooms. Their inclusion in this list does not imply an endorsement on part of Patch, which does not issue endorsements and encourages its readers to research all candidates from a variety of sources.
