Who You Calling Fat, Dick Wolf? Chicagoans Take Issue With 'Law & Order' Creator's Burn

Doesn't the TV producer know that Chicago isn't fat, it just has broad shoulders?

CHICAGO — "Law & Order" creator Dick Wolf demonstrated Wednesday why he has a reputation as a master of TV crime. The producer — in town to mark the beginning of filming for "Chicago Justice," the newest series in his Windy City-based, murder-and-mayhem TV franchise — blasted Chicagoans with a polite-but-lethal drive-by backhanded compliment.

"I said to the mayor I tell people that Chicago, compared to New York — where I grew up and I still love — this is a cleaner, politer New York with slightly heavier people," Wolf said during an appearance Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Cinespace Chicago Film Studios, where his Chicago-based shows are filmed, according to the Chicago Tribune.

That's right, Dick Wolf — the man who proved with "Law & Order SVU" that he's never met a human orifice he couldn't match with an inappropriate bodily fluid — essentially told the people of Chicago, "Wow, you gained a lot of weight. But you carry it well. It works on you."
