Worker Dies While Setting Up NASCAR Race In Chicago: Report

The 53-year-old man, who died Friday, was an employee of a staging and lighting company, according to reports.

CHICAGO — With the NASCAR Chicago Street Race set to go in a little over 48 hours at Grant Park, it is being reported a worker died Friday afternoon while setting things up near the race's starting line. A NASCAR spokesperson told WGN-TV that a 53-year-old man, who was working as an employee of a staging and lighting company, "suffered a fatal medical emergency."

WGN is reporting that initial police reports from the scene said the man may have been electrocuted. Police said the man was near the race starting line west of Buckingham Fountain.
