Wrigley Carjacking: Attacker Forces Woman Into Trunk, Crashes Car

A carjacker drove the woman around the city for more than an hour before crashing the vehicle.

CHICAGO, IL -- A gunman reportedly forced a 24-year-old woman into the trunk of her car in Wrigleyville Thursday night, then drove her around the city before crashing into a tree.

The woman was in the backyard of an apartment building in the 3700 block of North Fremont when the carjacker approached and forced her into the trunk at around 8:20 p.m., according to CBS Chicago. Police said he then drove her around the city, making several stops before crashing her vehicle into a tree near 115th and Throop Street -- some 20 miles from the scene of the carjacking -- at around 10 p.m.

The carjacker, described as a heavyset black man in his 30s with a goatee, fled the scene, the Chicago Tribune reported. The woman escaped from the trunk and called for help before being taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, police told the Tribune.
