Yeezus 101 Canceled: 'No Plans' For Kanye Class At Art Institute
West tweeted he "will teach" a class at the Art Institute of Chicago. "We're flattered," the school said, but added there are no such plans.

CHICAGO, IL — Kanye West will not be teaching at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, the school said, despite the rapper having claimed he will. West's statement on Sunday seemed to have surprised school officials.
Prior to West's not necessarily true announcement, he tweeted about artist Theaster Gates’ Stony Island Arts Bank, by the Rebuild Foundation, calling it "super inspiring," according to the Chicago Tribune. He had visited the week prior, he said.
The tweet was published around 11:30 p.m. Sunday, in which he wrote, "I will teach a course" at the prestigious school. Prior, he had been tweeting about his love for the city.

“We're flattered that Mr. West would have an interest in teaching emerging artists and designers at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago,” Bree Witt, the school’s public relations director, said in a statement, the Chicago Tribune reported. “However, Mr. West is not currently teaching at SAIC, and at this time, there are no plans for him to do so.”
It all came after the rapper's announcement that there will be a "Yeezy office" in Chicago. He apparently found the Stony Island Arts Bank so inspiring that he wants to get even closer to the city he grew up in.

"We’re honored that Kanye has found so much inspiration in the work that Rebuild Foundation is doing in Chicago and beyond, and we welcome others to visit this unique space,” said Tregg Duerson of the Rebuild Foundation, the Tribune reports.
West's claim of professorship wasn't the first strange incident over the past weekend. He told Extra over the weekend that Kim Kardashian was going to law school. She's not. However, she has been heavily involved in the legal system due to her activism as of late, Extra reported, which is likely where his statement came from.
West's “transformative, genre-defying work” earned him an honorary doctorate from the school in 2015, according to HuffPost.
