20-Year Old Woman Killed In Chicago Heights DUI Crash

Police say a man was driving drunk during a crash that killed 20-year-old Mariyah Howard in Chicago Heights.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL - A 20-year-old woman was killed early Saturday morning in Chicago Heights after a crash that police say involved a drunk driver. Mariyah K. Howard was driving a 2006 Ford Focus when it crashed with a 2003 Toyota Camry at 16th Place and Chicago Road around 3:45 a.m., according to a Chicago Sun-Times report. Sai Pavuluri, the driver of the Camry, has been accused of driving drunk. Howard was pronounced dead at the scene.

Family members have set up a YouCaring page to help fund Howard's funeral. As of Monday night, $3,555 of a $5,000 goal had been raised. Howard, who lived in Beecher, was described as "amazing" and a "loyal friend."

Pavuluri was hospitalized, initially in Olympia Fields then taken to Oak Lawn, and then charged with aggravated DUI resulting in death.
