21-Year Old Killed In Chicago Heights Shooting
Jose Calderon was wounded in a Memorial Day shooting in Chicago Heights and later died from his injuries.
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL -- A 21-year-old man has died after a shooting early in the morning on Memorial Day in Chicago Heights. Jose L. Calderon of Chicago Heights was found shot inside a vehicle in an alley on 19th Street at 12:21 a.m. on May 29, according to police. He was transported first to St. James Hospital, then Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn where he was pronounced dead later in the day.
Police said that when they arrived they found Calderon sitting in the driver's seat of a white Chevrolet SUV with a gunshot wound to his upper body and head. After aid was rendered, Calderon was taken to St. James in critical condition. Police said they were notified of his death later in the day. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday.
