26th Street Closure in Chicago Heights Begins Monday

Completion expected by Nov. 7.

Emergency sewer repairs will close 26th Street between East End Avenue and State Street in Chicago Heights, weather permitting, on Monday, Oct .6. The project consists of sewer and drainage pipes installations, new guardrails and shrub removal. The anticipated completion date is Nov. 7, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.

A detour will be posted. Traffic will be directed to use East End Avenue, State Street and Sauk Trail to reconnect with 26th Street. Limited access will be maintained for residents who live on 26th Street.

Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through this area.
