3 Shot, 1 Dead At Family Party In Will County: Sheriff

Police received several 911 calls around 1 a.m. Sunday reporting a large fight.

CRETE, IL — Three people were shot, and one is dead after a shooting during a family party in Crete, the Will County Sheriff's Office said.

Police received several 911 calls around 1 a.m. reporting a large fight and possible shooting near 27000 S. State Line Road in Crete, officials said.

Deputies who arrived found a large crowd and began life-saving measures before three shooting victims were taken to area hospitals. According to officials, one of the shooting victims later died at a hospital in Olympia Fields.

According to officials, the shooting happened during a family party and is believed to be a domestic incident with no threat to the public.

The Will County Sheriff's Office thanked the St. John, Indiana, Police Department; Crete Police Department; Crete Township Fire Department; and Crete Fire Department for assisting with the response.

The shooting is the latest major incident this week in Crete, where police responded to a triple homicide early Monday and where a house fire claimed the lives of a grandfather and three granddaughters days later.
