6-Year-Old Chicago Boy is Named 'Hasbro Community Action Hero' for His Service Leadership
August Favarula Proves Age Isn't a Factor in Creating Positive Change

August Favarula, a 6-year-old Chicago native, was named a Hasbro Community Action Hero for his inspiring volunteer efforts to create positive change in the community. Hasbro, in partnership with generationOn - the youth division of Points of Light - selected 10 service leaders out of several hundred submissions of youth that have made a difference both in their hometown communities and the world through hands-on service projects that create awareness for important social issues.
As a Kindergartner, August raised over $10,000 for Charles’ Lockers, a project that provides lockers filled with laptops, movies, iPads, etc. to keep children in the hospital entertained and engaged in learning during their stay. It was August’s idea to raise money for sick kids, and he led the fundraiser at his school. This fundraiser is now an annual event with August and his classmates serving as young leaders teaching what they have learned to each new kindergarten class.
On Saturday, April 18th, August received his Hasbro Community Action Hero award along with a $1,000 educational scholarship and a $500 grant to his selected non-profit during a celebration at the generationOn Block Party in Los Angeles.
