7-Year-Old Struck And Killed In Sunday Morning Crash: Police
Police said the child was hit by a Kia Soul on Dixie Highway shortly before 11 a.m. and airlifted to Stroger Hospital.
CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A 7-year-old boy is dead after a car crash Sunday morning on Dixie Highway, police said.
The young boy was identified as Giovanni Leon, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
Officials said the child was struck by a Kia Soul just before 11 a.m. in the 800 block of Dixie Highway. He was airlifted to Stroger Hospital where he was later pronounced dead at 12:47 p.m.

The driver of the Kia Soul was also injured and taken to Advocate South Suburban Hospital, police said in a statement.
The Accident Investigation Unit is looking into the incident, officials told Patch.
