Glenwood Man, 50, Arrested Within Hours Of Road Rage Shooting On I-94: State Police

The man reportedly shot at a car after a road rage incident escalated, state police said Monday.

CHICAGO — A 50-year-old Glenwood man has been arrested in connection with a road rage incident that escalated into a shooting on I-94 over the weekend, Illinois State Police said Monday.

At naround 2:02 a.m. on July 18, ISP responded to a report of an expressway shooting on I-94 southbound near 130th Street in Chicago.

Police said that during a road rage incident, a man reportedly fired a weapon at the victim’s vehicle. The victim’s vehicle was not hit, and no injuries were reported, police said.

Troopers quickly identified the suspect vehicle after both vehicles crossed into Gary, Indiana, and were stopped by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office and the Indiana State Police.

The suspect, identified as Byron Coleman, 50, of Glenwood, was taken into custody.

On July 19, state police presented the case to the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, and Coleman was charged with one count of reckless discharge of a firearm. He remains in custody pending his first court appearance.
