• 'Building futures on borrowed time': Youth workforce program scrambles as state funding ends (fox32chicago.com) — Young people are getting paid construction and trade training at a Chicago Heights site run by Save Our City, Save Our Future, but the state funding that supports their wages ends August 31. With fall programming paused and more than 40 teens on a waitlist, the nonprofit is scrambling to raise about $550,000 a year through donations, grants, and sponsors to keep the program alive.
