• 2 Men Charged After Illegal Guns Found During Traffic Stop: Sheriff (patch.com) — Residents of Chicago Heights may notice increased police activity after a late-August traffic stop near West 26th and Aberdeen led to the discovery of two loaded guns and suspected cannabis. Two men, one from Park Forest and one from Lynwood, now face felony aggravated unlawful possession of a weapon charges, with one ordered held in Cook County Jail and the other released.
   

• Bloom Township cancels upcoming Sept. 8 meeting (thelansingjournal.org) — Bloom Township has canceled its Board of Trustees meeting that was set for Tuesday, September 8, so residents will now have to wait until the next meeting on September 22 at 4:30 p.m. Meetings are held at Bloom Township Hall on South Halsted in Chicago Heights, and agendas must be posted at least 48 hours in advance under the Open Meetings Act.
   

• $77,145 Chem Check bill leads Bloom Township's July expenses (thelansingjournal.org) — Bloom Township, based in Chicago Heights, saw a sharp jump in its July pool-related Chem Check bill to $77,145, making it the month's largest single expense. Health insurance, travel, utilities, security, legal services, and lawn care also accounted for major spending, with UnitedHealthcare, Diamond Tours, ComEd, and several local vendors among those paid from various township funds.
