Rabid Bat Found In Park Forest: Cook County

PARK FOREST, IL — A bat found in Park Forest tested positive for rabies, Village officials said Tuesday.

Cook County Animal and Rabies Control notified the Village that a bat found near the 110 block of Warwick on Sept. 24 was found to be rabid.

Residents should avoid handling bats or other wild animals and keep pets current on rabies vaccinations. Anyone who may have had contact with a bat should contact a doctor promptly.

If a pet may have had contact, contact a veterinarian. Report a down or dead bat or skunk to Cook County Animal and Rabies Control at 708-974-6140.
