Annual Skyway Juried Art Exhibition Hosted at Prairie State College Through April 8

An artists' reception is scheduled in the gallery from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, with an awards presentation at noon.

Prairie State College is hosting the 2017 Skyway Juried Art Exhibition through April 8, in the Christopher Art Gallery, located on the college’s main campus at 202 S. Halsted St. in Chicago Heights.

An artists’ reception is scheduled in the gallery from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 8, with an awards presentation at noon.

Students from the various community colleges in Illinois submit for this annual juried competition, and works chosen are exhibited at one of the colleges. This year, it is hosted at PSC.

Participating colleges include College of Lake County, Elgin Community College, McHenry County College, Moraine Valley Community College, Morton College, Oakton Community College, Prairie State College and Waubonsee Community College.

This year, each participant school submitted 25 pieces. Jurors Connie Wolfe, an artist, and Brad Temkin, a photographer, chose 34 pieces from the 200 submissions. Among the artists’ submissions are ceramics, drawing, design, electronic imagery, painting, photography, printmaking and sculpture.

The Christopher Art Gallery is open Monday through Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Wednesday and Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. The gallery may also be visited by appointment. For more information, visit prairiestate.edu/artgallery or call (708) 709-7738.
