Back to School: 16 Chicago Heights Students Win Gift Cards at Gonzalez School Raffle

(Chicago Heights, IL) – Back-to-School became easier for the parents of a group of Chicago Heights students who recently won school supply “gift cards” and books at a raffle sponsored by the city’s mayor.

Mayor David Gonzalez’s school give-away received 163 raffle entries during the Chicago Heights Park District’s August 6 back-to-school community event, and 16 students from Chicago Heights School District 170 and Bloom Township District 206 won a $25 Target gift card to be used to purchase school supplies.

“The gift card can help with important back-to-school purchases for our kids and it may ease the financial burden of purchasing the items for families,” said Gonzalez. “With a $25 gift card, elementary students can purchase parts of their school uniforms, such as a shirt for as low as $4.49, at any of the area Target stores while high school students can buy supplies, such as paper, pens, folders, etc.”

District 170 students returned to school on August 21 and Bloom 206 students, August 15.
