Bloom 206 Band Marches in South Side Irish Parade
The band continues a big year, taking on more events and competitions than before.
The Bloom Township High School District 206 Marching Band took part in the South Side Irish Parade on Sunday, March 11, 2018.
The Bloom Township Band is far more active this year as director Michael Bielecki has entered the band competitive events. The band has taken part in three competitions this year, traveling to Wheeling and Romeoville for two of them.
According to Bielecki, many of the students pull double duty playing not only more than one instrument, but learning teamwork and becoming leaders in their own right. Some kids are depending on their talents to earn scholarships to college, others just play for the love of the music. Some will continue to play through college and beyond while others may never pick up their instrument again after graduation. No matter the outcome of this year, Bielecki says he is proud of his students.

“I'm fortunate to be leading this group of young musicians,” Bielecki said. “Their passion, work ethic, and desire to be more continues to inspire me every day, both in the classroom and on the marching field. It's year one of a new adventure and already they have shown so much promise."
Students from both Bloom and Bloom Trail high schools make up the Blazing Trojans marching band.
