Bloom 206 Brings Back Parent University for Second Year
The annual conference is aimed at building strong, positive relationships between parents of high school students and the school district.
On Saturday, November 12, Bloom Township High School District 206 held its second annual Parent University event in the Conference Center at Prairie State College, where parents of high school students heard lectures from several education and parenting experts in a workshop environment.
The event opened up with a keynote address from Terrell Fletcher, a former NFL running back for the San Diego Chargers who is now the Senior Pastor of the City of Hope International Church. Outside the lecture hall and classrooms, librarians from Chicago Heights, Steger-South Chicago Heights and Glenwood-Lynwood public libraries manned informational booths. Parents also were able to speak with representatives from several area nonprofit organizations.
Bloom 206 Superintendent Lenell Navarre praised parents for taking the time to attend the event. “Parent University is a labor of love in building a stronger relationship with the parents of Bloom and Bloom Trail high school students,” Navarre said. “I would like to thank all of the parents for taking time out of their Saturday to attend.”
