Bloom 206 Honors Maintenance Workers

The district awarded and held a special dinner for the maintenance workers who kept the schools functioning throughout the COVID pandemic.

On Monday, November 15, Bloom Township High School District 206 honored maintenance workers during the Board of Education Meeting.

They were honored for their outstanding teamwork and heroic efforts during the 2020-21 COVID-19 pandemic, where they served as essential workers who were on-site during uncertain times when others were able to work remotely. They maintained cleanliness and ensured that the district’s classroom educators and administrators were able to get the students back to school safely, efficiently, and effectively. In addition to their regular work, the maintenance team was responsible for extensive daily cleaning, wiping down all surfaces, sanitizing and disinfecting all workspaces per Illinois Department of Public Health guidelines.

The maintenance employees were awarded plaques and dinner from Superintendent Lenell Navarre and the Board of Education as a token of appreciation. Members of Service Employees International Union Local 73 came out to support and celebrate the maintenance workers as well.
