Bloom 206 to Offer Pre-Advanced Placement Courses in 2018
Starting with freshmen this fall, the high school school district will be among the first in the South Suburbs to offer such courses.
In January 2018, Bloom Township High School District 206 earned the official Pre-Advanced Placement designation from The College Board, a mission-driven international not-for-profit organization committed to increasing college access and opportunity to students.
Beginning with the 2018-19 school year, all ninth grade students will take Pre-AP Algebra I, Biology, and English I. Those in the Fine and Performing Arts program will take Pre-AP Music or Visual Art. In the 2019-20 school year, the district will move to all tenth grade Pre-AP core courses as well.
The Pre-AP component aims to significantly increase the number of students who are able to access and complete college-level work before leaving high school. It also seeks to improve the college readiness of all students.
