The high school district will use the six-figure grant to expand its efforts to serve students' social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Bloom Township District 206 is proud to announce that they applied for and received the Community Partnership Grant provided through the Illinois State Board of Education. The grant amount is $635,000 for a two-year period.
The Community Partnership Grant will provide resources to address students’ social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. Symptoms of anxiety and depression have doubled among young people worldwide during the pandemic, with 20 percent having anxiety symptoms and 25 percent experiencing depression symptoms, according to the U.S. Surgeon General. The Community Partnership grant will not only address the well-being of their students, but also their parents, guardians, and community members.
“Serving our students' needs goes beyond providing and curating their educational experience but also serving their social, emotional, and mental health needs during this critical period in their lives,” said Bloom 206 Superintendent Lenell Navarre. “We want to thank the Illinois State Board of Education for this grant as it will enable us to expand these efforts in deeply impactful ways over the next two years.”
