Bloom High School Does ‘Broadway Our Way’

Even though Bloom High School is continuing the virtual learning experience, the show must go on.

The Bloom High School Drama Club is proud to announce that, in spite of the challenges of this school year, they will produce a fall play with a show entitled “Broadway Our Way.”

“Although the stage is our home, we have taken innovative steps to transition our talent to the screen,” said Drama Club Instructor Nadima Zegar-Carr.

For the show, which will debut online on December 11, 2020, students were asked to audition with their favorite Broadway musical number and have had virtual vocal and acting rehearsals to determine their role. Additionally, the students have been hard at work learning how to use technology to bring a different type of show into production. With the help of Assistant Director, Stephen Lopez, students are learning how to mix, use music technology for recording and are helping edit the music cuts in order to bring their show right to an audience’s living room.

The Bloom Drama Club has always been a family and, since field trips are not possible, they have hosted several watch parties to help students have social interaction as well as foster a love of live theater. “We have watched Hamilton, The Disney Family Sing-Along, and The Greatest Showman and have several more movie nights planned,” Zegar-Carr said.

Finally, Drama Club has been working hard to provide outreach to the Bloom community by dramatically reading children’s stories and will be sharing the links with local libraries and elementary schools.
