Bloom Plans To Add Deputy Superintendent Position
Bloom Township High School District 206 has pushed back the hiring of a deputy superintendent, a newly created administrative position.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL -- Bloom Township High School District 206 will postpone the hiring of a deputy superintendent, a newly created position in the district, after a candidate who was offered the job turned down the offer due to personal reasons.
The school district has developed the new deputy superintendent role "to fulfill a key leadership need within our administrative team," the district said in a statement.
The deputy superintendent will serve in a similar capacity as a chief of staff, assisting the superintendent in a wide-ranging list of duties.

A June Bloom 206 board meeting agenda included an item on recommending approval for the hiring of Loretta Perez as deputy superintendent, with a start date listed as July 2, 2018.
The district's statement says a candidate was offered the deputy superintendent position but "has since respectfully declined the role due to personal reasons." Presumably, Perez is the person who declined the role since her potential hiring was listed on a meeting agenda.

Due to the timing of the change, hiring for the deputy superintendent role now won't begin until January of 2019, with the hire beginning work at the start of the 2019-2020 school year.
The district's full statement is included below:
Bloom Township High School District 206 has developed the role of Deputy Superintendent to fulfill a key leadership need within our administrative team. Operating in a similar capacity to a chief of staff, the deputy superintendent will, under the direction of the Superintendent, plan, organize, and direct District-wide operations, departments and activities of assigned areas and educational support services in collaboration with the Superintendent.
The deputy superintendent will also perform a broad range of complex administrative duties and serve on the Superintendent’s Cabinet and coordinate a variety of District committees; serve as the Superintendent Degree in the absence of the Superintendent; implement actions in accordance with established plans, goals and objectives of the Superintendent; coordinate and direct personnel, resources, communications and information to meet District needs and assure smooth and efficient activities; assure compliance with district, county, and federal policies, regulations and guidelines; supervise and evaluate the performance of assigned personnel.
While a candidate was recently offered the position, that candidate has since respectfully declined the role due to personal reasons. Due to the timing of this change, we will shift hiring for this role to January of 2019, with the hire beginning work at the start of the 2019-2020 school year.
