On February 23, the Bloom Trail JROTC team took a two-day trip up to Great Lakes Naval Base, for the annual Area 3 competition.
In the first day, students participated in the Physical Training and Academic portions, including relay, sit-ups, push-ups and a 100-question sixty-minute academic test. The second day of the competition included basic drill, armed drill, as well as armed and unarmed exhibition.
“These two days were filled with both excitement and sadness, as this was our last competition of the year and the last competition for the drill careers of our most senior cadets,” said Cadet Chief Nadia Robinson. “In the end we performed our hearts out and had an amazing time doing what we do best.”
The color guard team, commanded by Cadet Ensign Jefferson Le, brought home a third place overall trophy. Vincent Papaleo (3rd) and Eddie Davila (6th) both won individual trophies in unarmed knockout.
