Bloom Trail Sends Books Home for the Holidays

The school re-opened its holiday bookshop for the first time since COVID.

This holiday season, Bloom Trail is showing its commitment to serving the community by giving the gift of the love of reading.

One of the many traditions that Bloom Trail High School has been able to bring back this year is Santa’s Bookshop. Organized by the Fine Arts Department, Santa’s Bookshop gives Bloom Trail students the opportunity to choose and wrap books to give as presents to younger relatives.

The students then decorate an ornament with their pledge to read the book to the child they are giving it to. The ornaments are displayed on a tree in the cafeteria. The entire Bloom Trail community donated books and gift wrapping supplies to make the Bookshop happen. Students selected and wrapped their gifts during their lunch period.

The Bookshop had its debut in 2019, just months before the pandemic. That year, students brought home over 200 books to their younger relatives. This year, Bloom Trail students took home over 400 books to share with their loved ones. Students were thrilled to get to “shop” for the perfect book, wrap their present, and take a selfie with Santa.
