Bloom Trail Student in Top 2% for PSAT Test
National Hispanic Recognition Program recognizes Bloom Trail Student Raquel Trevino
When Bloom Trail Junior Raquel Trevino read the email she made the top 2.5 percent in the National Hispanic Recognition Program she told her parents and then her honors reading teacher and Instructional Coach Diane Oliver.
“The fact that she brought this to me, I’m trying not to cry, just blew my mind” said Oliver. “To find out Raquel was honored to be in the National Hispanic Recognition Program was such a wonderful surprise” explains Oliver. “Raquel scored a thirteen-eighty on her PSAT. When Raquel brought that to my attention, she is the first person of one of my students to get this honor. I thought how can I position Raquel to inspire others,”
Raquel will be the first generation in her family to go on to college. The humble soft-spoken student from Steger has continued her honor roll status at Bloom Trail.

“I was so surprised to see that e-mail” Raquel explains. “I’ve usually gotten straight A’s with an exception of a few B’s here and there. I didn’t think my PSAT score was that outstanding until I researched it. I was in the top 2.5 Hispanic students who took the test.”
The PSAT test is a practice SAT is taken in October. According to Oliver, the goal for Bloom Trail students is to be at a fourteen-fifty. “We are working very hard at Bloom Trail to get students to those goals” Oliver explains. “Raquel knocked it out of the park” Oliver laughs. “Going forward I know she’ll be doing better.”
