You Matter: Youth Empowerment Day

GL News Initiative, powered by One Purpose Love and supported by the Illinois Department of Public Health, to invite your ministry to partner with us for an upcoming community event and youth opportunity.

We’re hosting You Matter: Youth Empowerment Day on Saturday, July 26, 2025, a free one-day experience designed to teach youth ages 12–18 practical coping skills, encourage peer support, and spark healing through creative storytelling.

We’d love your support in sharing the attached flyer with youth and families. If helpful, we’re happy to drop off printed copies at your organization.

We’re also inviting youth in your community to participate in our “Tell Your Story” Youth Poster Campaign, which celebrates the voices of young people across the South Suburbs.

Tell Your Story: A Youth-Led Poster Campaign

Youth ages 12–18 are invited to submit a short story (200–300 words) based on a mental health theme like resilience, friendship, self-care, or emotional growth.

Submissions will be printed and displayed during the Youth Empowerment Day poster session.
Top submissions will receive recognition items and be honored as part of our youth storytelling showcase.
Select participants will be named Honorary Editors-in-Chief of GL News!

Youth may also upload a selfie, an original art piece, or suggest a royalty-free image to accompany their story.
