The Cancer Support Center's Walk of Hope
The Cancer Support Center hosts its annual Walk of Hope on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at Irwin Park in Homewood

On Sunday, October 4, 2015, join over 1,000 community members in The Cancer Support Center’s Walk of Hope at Irwin Park, 18120 Highland Ave, Homewood, Ill. The Walk of Hope is brought to you by Title Sponsor -- Cancer Treatment Centers of America and Media Sponsor-- Mix 101.9 FM the Chicago. The Walk of Hope raises funds and awareness to provide programs and resources at no charge for those living with a cancer diagnosis as well as to their loved ones, in the Chicago south suburbs. The hope is that every walker fundraiser $100.00.
“When I think about The Cancer Support Center, I think in the terms of ‘hope’ and ‘inspiration,’” said Maureen, a Cancer Support Center participant. “We walk united, arm and arm, one for all, all for one, every year because it has inspired all of us to continue our fight against this disease and the prognosis. Victory is in numbers and each year we get to walk is viewed as a victory.”

For over 20 years, The Center has been here to give strength, guidance and support to anyone living with a cancer diagnosis, as well as to their loved ones. The Center is a community-based, volunteer-driven, donor-supported organization. The programs, resources and services are always delivered by professional therapists, counselors, nutritionists, and experts; and are provided in a warm, welcoming and nurturing setting at no cost to participants.
In 2014, The Center provided more than 10,600 hours of programming to over 4,500 people. More than 300 women who were losing their hair due to chemotherapy received free wigs, scarves and hats. Offices are located in Homewood, 2028 Elm Road, and Mokena, 19657 S. LaGrange Road, and the programs are also facilitated at several hospitals and cancer centers in the southland communities. The Center is able to provide these resources to anyone regardless of financial ability because of the generosity of individuals, businesses and organizations.
