CH Lions Club and CMT Church Team up to provide dinner on Holiday
Families, women and children that are in need are invited to attend lunch at Chicago Miracle Temple Church. Toys will also be available.

When some Chicago Heights residents hear of a need, they rush to help. When the Lions Club of Chicago Heights heard about homeless women and children not having a meal, they stepped up to help. The President of the Lions Club Jessica Mancina from Chicago Heights didn’t want anyone to be without for the holidays.
“There is nothing more self-affirming than knowing you are doing good for your community and helping others spread love” said Mancina. “It is a blessing to be able to help others and I am thankful to be able to do so.”
On Christmas day, the Chicago Heights Lions Club and members of Chicago Miracle Temple will serve lunch to homeless disadvantaged women and children from noon to 2PM. Toys for Tots also donated toys for them to choose. The Chicago Heights Lions Club is funding the lunch. Mancina explains their dedication to the community.

“The Chicago Heights Lions Club is part of the largest service organization in the world” said Mancina. “Our motto “We Serve” is branded and it is our charge to bring service to Chicago Heights. Our involvement goes from helping other local organizations service others to assisting families directly depending on their needs.”
Co-pastor Cheryl Anderson who has been serving the community of Chicago Heights along with her husband Pastor William Anderson for over 25 years, is thrilled to partner with the Chicago Heights Lions Club.

“I am so honored that the Lions Club has provided food for Christmas day” said Co Pastor Anderson. “It means a lot to be able to partner with them and support the members of Chicago Heights. Our hearts at the church has always been to serve others. We get to continue to do that.”
Besides serving lunch, the church and the Chicago Heights Lions club will have goody bags and a candy buffet table. If you just want to talk, members of the church and the Chicago Heights Lions club will listen.
“There are many people going through hard times and the holiday season tends to magnify emotions, both positive and negative” said Mancina. “Those making it through Christmas without family, friends, a home, or gifts, need to know they are not forgotten; they are loved by their community. The Chicago Heights Lions Club leads with “We Serve” in our city.”
Personally, Mancina lives by an African proverb. “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel it’s warmth.” The success of our community requires everyone to play a part in nurturing those that need help and spreading love along the way.”
If you are in need of a meal and children in need of toys, stop by Chicago Miracle Temple Church on Christmas day between noon and 2PM. The church is located at 34 East 16th Street in Chicago Heights. Next to the bus station.
