Charges Filed Against Indiana Man In Fatal Hit-And-Run

Cook County sheriff's police have charged a man in the death of Penny Pearman of Chicago Heights.

FORD HEIGHTS, IL – A 50-year-old Indiana man has been charged in connection with the hit-and-run death of Chicago Heights resident Penny Pearman last month. Cook County sheriff's police arrested Joseph Luecke of St. John, Indiana on Dec. 16 with one count of failure to report an accident resulting in death.

Luecke is accused of being the driver in a Nov. 4 crash in the 2100 block of Lincoln Highway near the village of Ford Heights. Investigators at the time said that a car, believed to be a 2016 or 2017 white GMC Sierra pickup, struck Pearman and fled the scene.

Bond was set at $50,000 for Luecke at the Markham courthouse on Monday.
