Chicago bridge team wins national title at North American Bridge Championship

Chicago team claims Mini-Spingold I Knockout title at national bridge tournament

A bridge team from Chicago won a national title at the Summer North American Bridge Championship (NABC). The NABCs are held three times a year and bring together more than 5,000 bridge players from across the U.S. and Canada to compete in 16 championship-level events.

Mark Friedlander, Richard Fellars, Howard Engle, Mark Weisman (pictured left to right), all of Chicago, Ill., won the Mini-Spingold I Knockout Teams event at the NABC.

This is the Chicago-based team’s first Mini-Spingold KO title. Engle and Weisman are previous winners of the Bruce Life Master Pairs in 2011.

The 2014 Fall NABC will be held in Providence, R.I., from Nov. 27 to Dec. 7.
