The Chicago Heights man then fled on foot and didn't report the crash to police, prosecutors allege.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — A Chicago Heights man was driving a stolen car at excessive speeds when he crashed, ejecting three passengers and killing two, Cook County prosecutors said in court.
Demitreaun Ross, 20, was arrested last week in connection with a January 2025 deadly crash on I-57 northbound near 167th.
Ross, prosecutors allege, was driving a stolen vehicle more than 100 mph, "weaving in and out of lanes and onto the shoulder" of the highway. Ross is alleged to have hit one vehicle, gone back onto the shoulder, and hit a second vehicle. His stolen vehicle then rolled over, prosecutors said, ejecting three passengers. Two passengers died as a result, prosecutors said. Other passengers sustained serious injuries.
