(Chicago Heights, IL) – The City of Chicago Heights has received a $477,900 grant from Cook County to upgrade Euclid Avenue, announced Mayor David Gonzalez

The Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways last week approved Chicago Heights’ funding application for the Euclid Avenue repairs as part of the County’s 2020 Invest in Cook Program, according to Gonzalez.

“Rebuilding Chicago Heights infrastructure of streets, sidewalks, sewers, and lighting has been a key pillar of creating a 21st Century economy for the city that helps attract new business investment,” said Gonzalez. “Under my Administration, Chicago Heights fights for every investment dollar possible, so I am of course thrilled and grateful to obtain the $477,900 from Cook County for Euclid Avenue.”

The Euclid Avenue Roadway Improvements project will consist of concrete pavement reconstruction on Euclid Avenue from the C.N. railroad tracks south to 26th Street and the installation of curbs and gutters where none exists.

“The roadway improvements will increase travel safety for truck traffic, vehicles, cyclists and residents,” said Gonzalez. “The upgrades will also enhance the appearance along the roadway and safely create a travel path to the forest preserve trail for walkers and cyclists.”
