CRETE, IL — A Chicago man was killed when struck by a semi late Saturday night in Crete, the Will County Coroner's Office said Tuesday.

Crete police were called just before 10 p.m. Saturday to I-394 and Richton Road, for a report of a semi striking a pedestrian.

Due the nature of the call and location on a state highway, the Illinois State Police was contacted to assist in a reconstruction investigation and the Will County Coroner was contacted and responded to the scene, Pieritz said. An autopsy was conducted on Feb. 23.

Video evidence was collected and is being reviewed by Crete detectives, Pieritz said. Final cause and manner of death are pending toxicology results and a police investigation.
