The CHMS Choir Shines at the SCH Tree Lighting Ceremony

The 2024 holiday season officially began with a melody of joy as the Chicago Heights Middle School (CHMS) Choir delivered an outstanding performance at the South Chicago Heights Tree Lighting Ceremony on Friday, November 22.

Under the twinkling lights and crisp autumn air, the CHMS Choir, led by Choir Director Caresse Mathews, captivated the audience with festive classics and heartfelt tunes.

The students’ voices resonated with energy and emotion, bringing joyous warmth to the evening as residents gathered to celebrate the start of the holiday season.

South Chicago Heights Mayor Terry Matthews praised the choir’s performance, highlighting the girls’ passion for singing.

“This year’s choir performance was fantastic,” Matthews said. “The girls showed their love for singing through their performance and brought their passion to each number, making the evening even more special.”

CHMS Principal Chris Baikauskas echoed that sentiment, praising the students for their commitment.

“Our choir’s performance was nothing short of spectacular,” he said. “Their passion for singing was evident in every note, and it’s an honor for CHMS to be part of such a cherished tradition.”

CHMS Assistant Principal Rebecca Linzy also expressed her pride in the students’ dedication and how they represented the school.

La temporada navideña de 2024 comenzó oficialmente con una melodía de alegría cuando el Coro de la Escuela Secundaria Chicago Heights (CHMS) ofreció una actuación sobresaliente en la Ceremonia de Iluminación del Árbol del Sur de Chicago Heights el viernes 22 de noviembre.

Bajo las luces centelleantes y el aire fresco del otoño, el coro CHMS, dirigido por la directora del coro Caresse Mathews, cautivó a la audiencia con clásicos festivos y melodías sinceras.
