CHSD170 Announces New Administrative Assignments

The assignments include a new principal at Jefferson School and new assistant principal at Washington-McKinley School

Chicago Heights School District 170 has announced that Christopher Baikauskas and Joseph Silvestri have accepted new administrative positions for the 2018-19 school year.

Baikauskas will serve as the new Principal at Jefferson School replacing Dr. Terry Brink who retired in July. He has worked in the district for eight years as a special education teacher, Dean of Students, and, most recently, as Director of the CHSD170 REACH Program.

In addition to his work with the district, Mr. Baikauskas serves as Chairman of the Chicago Heights Police and Fire Board of Commissioners and maintains a seat on the Prairie State College Board of Trustees.

Silvestri will serve as the new Assistant Principal at Washington-McKinley School. He returns to the school district after working for the past two years as the Dean of Students for Midlothian’s SD143. During his previous tenure with SD170, he worked as a sixth-grade teacher and coach at Washington-McKinley School.

“We are very excited about welcoming Chris and Joe to their new administrative roles, and know that their talent, knowledge, and commitment will ensure the continuation of the tradition of offering the students at Jefferson and Washington-McKinley Schools a superb educational experience,” said Superintendent Tom Amadio.
