CHSD170 Announces Plans for “Grab and Go” Meals

The plan continues the district's commitment to providing students breakfast and lunch meals while the remote learning process is underway

Chicago Heights School District 170 has announced plans to provide "Grab and Go" meals for students as the district begins the school year via Enhanced Remote Learning.

Laretta Adams, CHSD170's Assistant Superintendent of Business Affairs, announced that the distribution of meals would begin on Tuesday, September 8th.

Breakfast and lunch meal packages will be distributed on Mondays and Thursdays near the main entrances of each neighborhood school from 7:00 a.m. until 7:30 a.m.

On Monday, students will receive breakfast and lunch packages for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Thursday, breakfast and lunch packages for Thursday and Friday will be distributed.

Grab and Go Meals may be picked up near the main entrance of the following schools.

Garfield Elementary School, 140 E. 23rd Street;

Grant Elementary School, 2712 Miller Avenue, SCH;

Greenbriar Elementary School, 101 W. Greenbriar Avenue;

Highland Pre-School Elementary School, 828 Willow Drive;

Jefferson Elementary School, 176 E. 11th Street;

Kennedy Elementary School, 1013 Division;

Lincoln-Gavin Elementary School, 1520 Center Avenue;

Roosevelt Elementary School, 1345 Sunnyside Avenue;

Washington-McKinley Elementary School, 25 W. 16th Place; and

Wilson Elementary School, 422 W. 16th Place.

Please note that meals will not be served at the new Middle School. Students attending the middle school must pick up meals from the neighborhood school listed above.

"We are extremely pleased to continue providing our students with breakfast and lunch packages as part of the Illinois State Board of Education's Community Eligibility Provision," Adams said.

"We realize that good, nutritious meal packages are an essential component of a successful education program and are happy to offer 'Grab and Go' meals for all our students."
