CHSD170’s Greenbriar School Hosts Spooky Science Night

CHSD170’s Greenbriar School recently celebrated the resounding success of its Spooky Science Night, a triumphant conclusion to Greenbriar’s Our One School, One Book Initiative. This year, the book chosen for the initiative was Zoey and Sassafras: Dragons and Marshmallows, a delightful exploration of science and all its enchanting wonders!

The event was a captivating array of science investigations, each station a unique adventure. From the Disgusting Digs of the Dead (owl pellet dissections) to the mesmerizing lava lamp creations (learning about density), the Haunted States of Matter (studying states of matter), and the thrilling Spooky Senses (exploring mystery boxes), there was something to pique everyone's curiosity!

The Spooky Science Night was not just an event but a testament to the strong community spirit at Greenbriar School. The overwhelming turnout of families and friends of students transformed the school into a vibrant hub of excitement and curiosity. It was a heartwarming sight to see everyone, young and old, coming together to celebrate the joy of learning and science!

“What an absolute joy it is to see how many families are just as excited as we are about reading, learning, and science!” said third-grade teacher Ellen Wise.

The success of the Spooky Science Night was evident in the lively atmosphere and the overwhelming participation, truly bringing science to life at Greenbriar.

“Activities like this not only showcase our commitment to promoting science education but also set the stage for even more exciting events in the future!” added ESL teacher Anne Contreras.

“It was such a joy to see our students engaged in different science activities with their families,” noted Erica Hamrin, fourth/fifth-grade writing and Science teacher.

“We were truly impressed with the overwhelming turnout of our families,” remarked first-grade teacher Emma Fleming. “The large number of participants was a most pleasant surprise. So many came to enjoy the event that some science stations had to adjust the activities as supplies began running low.”

Greenbriar Principal Joe Taylor praised everyone involved in the activity, saying, “Greenbriar School always welcomes the opportunity to host events that showcase the talents and dedication of our students, teachers, and staff and welcomes the support of the parents, families, friends, and community members who join in celebrating our students’ success.”

La Escuela Greenbriar de CHSD170 celebró recientemente el rotundo éxito de su Noche de Ciencia Espeluznante, una conclusión triunfal de la iniciativa Nuestra Una Escuela, Un Libro de Greenbriar. Este año, el libro elegido para la iniciativa fue Zoey y Sasafrás: Dragones y Malvaviscos, una deliciosa exploración de la ciencia y todas sus encantadoras maravillas.

El evento fue una cautivadora variedad de investigaciones científicas, cada estación una aventura única. Desde las repugnantes excavaciones de los muertos (disecciones de perdigones de búho) hasta las fascinantes creaciones de lámparas de lava (aprendiendo sobre la densidad), los Haunted States of Matter (estudiando los estados de la materia) y los emocionantes Spooky Senses (explorando cajas misteriosas), ¡había algo para despertar la curiosidad de todos!

La Noche de Ciencia Espeluznante no fue solo un evento, sino un testimonio del fuerte espíritu comunitario en Greenbriar School. La abrumadora concurrencia de familiares y amigos de los estudiantes transformó la escuela en un vibrante centro de emoción y curiosidad. Fue un espectáculo conmovedor ver a todos, jóvenes y mayores, reunidos para celebrar la alegría del aprendizaje y la ciencia.

"¡Qué alegría absoluta es ver cuántas familias están tan entusiasmadas como nosotros con la lectura, el aprendizaje y la ciencia!", dijo Ellen Wise, maestra de tercer grado.

El éxito de la Noche de la Ciencia Espeluznante fue evidente en el ambiente animado y la participación abrumadora, que realmente dio vida a la ciencia en Greenbriar.

"Actividades como esta no solo muestran nuestro compromiso de promover la educación científica, sino que también preparan el escenario para eventos aún más emocionantes en el futuro", agregó la profesora de ESL Anne Contreras.

"Fue una gran alegría ver a nuestros estudiantes participar en diferentes actividades científicas con sus familias", señaló Erica Hamrin, maestra de escritura y ciencias de cuarto y quinto grado.

"Quedamos realmente impresionados con la abrumadora participación de nuestras familias", comentó la maestra de primer grado Emma Fleming. "El gran número de participantes fue una sorpresa muy agradable. Tantos vinieron a disfrutar del evento que algunas estaciones científicas tuvieron que ajustar las actividades a medida que los suministros comenzaron a escasear".

El director de Greenbriar, Joe Taylor, elogió a todos los involucrados en la actividad, diciendo: "La Escuela Greenbriar siempre da la bienvenida a la oportunidad de organizar eventos que muestren el talento y la dedicación de nuestros estudiantes, maestros y personal, y agradece el apoyo de los padres, familias, amigos y miembros de la comunidad que se unen para celebrar el éxito de nuestros estudiantes".
