CHSD170’s Wilson School Hosts Its First Mother/Son Prom

On Friday, May 3, 2024, Wilson Elementary School held its first Mother/Son Prom. Thanks to Jymesha Matthews, the owner of Kiorcreationschicago, and Wilson’s school nurse, Nurse Jennifer Burrows, the school cafeteria was magically transformed into a ballroom with beautiful balloon displays, table settings, and Aladdin-themed photoshoots.

Moms and sons, dressed to the nines, first enjoyed a delectable meal before dancing the night away, sharing innumerable laughs and creating lasting memories. Joy and laughter filled the air as moms and sons swayed to the tunes such as “I’ll Always Love My Momma” by The Intruders. The night was truly special, and the hearts of all attendees were brimming with happiness.

“The bond between our mothers and their sons was truly heartwarming to witness as they interacted throughout the evening,” shared Wilson School Principal Keyara Bishop.

She further added, "It was a joy to see our school community come together in such a special way."

“Our students and their mothers expressed gratitude for the wonderful evening that they will cherish for years to come.”

“We deeply appreciate the staff who came out to support this beautiful event,” she concluded.

El viernes 3 de mayo de 2024, la Escuela Primaria Wilson celebró su primer baile de graduación de madre e hijo. Gracias a Jymesha Matthews, propietaria de Kiorcreationschicago, y a la enfermera de la escuela de Wilson, la enfermera Jennifer Burrows, la cafetería de la escuela se transformó mágicamente en un salón de baile con hermosas exhibiciones de globos, juegos de mesa y sesiones de fotos con temática de Aladdin.

Madres e hijos, vestidos de punta en blanco, primero disfrutaron de una deliciosa comida antes de bailar toda la noche, compartiendo innumerables risas y creando recuerdos duraderos. La alegría y las risas llenaron el aire mientras las madres y los hijos se balanceaban al ritmo de melodías como "I'll Always Love My Momma" de The Intruders. La noche fue realmente especial, y los corazones de todos los asistentes rebosaban de felicidad.

"Fue realmente conmovedor presenciar el vínculo entre nuestras madres y sus hijos mientras interactuaban durante toda la noche", compartió la directora de la Escuela Wilson, Keyara Bishop.

Además, agregó: "Fue una alegría ver a nuestra comunidad escolar unirse de una manera tan especial".
