At Meals on Wheels for Northern Illinois (MOWFNI), we are dedicated to helping our senior neighbors live independently, safely, and with dignity in the homes they love. We achieve this through nutritious food, wellness checks, and the power of human connection, but we cannot do it alone. The Power of Our Volunteers Our volunteers are the heartbeat of MOWFNI. If you have just two hours a week to spare, you can make a profound difference. Delivering meals fits seamlessly into a midday routine or lunch break. As a volunteer driver, you do far more than hand over a meal; you provide a friendly smile, a warm conversation, and a crucial safety check for a senior who might not see anyone else that day. We offer flexible scheduling that allows you to volunteer weekly, monthly, or as part of a team with coworkers or friends. Our Core Programs: Home-Delivered Meals: We provide hot, dietitian-approved meals delivered directly to the doorsteps of those who cannot cook or shop for themselves. Community Cafes: Beyond home delivery, our vibrant Community Cafes offer a welcoming space for active older adults to gather, enjoy a delicious lunch, socialize, and build meaningful friendships that combat senior isolation. Find your nature’s muse at the <a href="https://www.reconnectwithnature.org/headlines/news/get-your-hands-dirty-plum-creek-fest-encourages-artistic-expression" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Festival of Arts Through Nature</a> from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 26.
This <a href="https://www.reconnectwithnature.org/preserves-trails/visitor-centers/plum-creek-nature-center" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Forest Preserve District of Will County</a> event will be full of hands-on activities that let you express yourself through music, movement and visual arts. 
Contribute to colorful community art installations, shop one-of-a-kind works from artists and enjoy tasty culinary treats along the way. Spark your imagination and experience the many ways nature can inspire art in many forms for all ages.&nbsp;
Event schedule:
11:15 a.m., 1 p.m. and 2:15 p.m.: Free yoga sessions with Seeds of Serenity, LLC.&nbsp;Each class is suitable for all ages and levels and offers a beautiful way to nurture your body and soul as you explore your connections to nature through yoga. Expect a combination of gentle stretches, calming poses, and breath work designed to create space for inner calm. Leave feeling refreshed, balanced and at ease. The classes will take place outside in the grass. Please bring your own yoga mat or blanket.
Noon to 2 p.m.: Concert by The StingRays.&nbsp;The StingRays play the greatest music ever written and play it with the energy, passion and authenticity of the artists whose music they love. This interactive show will get the crowd dancing and singing to your favorite rock 'n' roll hits of the 1950s, 60s and 70s. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket.&nbsp;
Ongoing activities:

FREE parking. It's an event like no other, and we want you to be there!
