City to Hold Budget Public Hearing July 17
The Chicago Heights city council will hold a public hearing focusing on the city's budget for the current Fiscal Year on July 17. Council will then vote on the budget during its meeting directly following the hearing.

Although the current fiscal year kicked off May 1 of this year, the city of Chicago Heights has not yet approved its budget for the year. That should change following a public hearing on Monday, July 17, when the city council will vote on the budget at its scheduled meeting.
“At 6:30 p.m., we’ll have our public hearing, followed by the council’s vote and a presentation,” said Treasurer Jim Dee.
The budget is currently available for viewing at the treasurer’s office.

“By statute we have to have the draft available for 10 days before the public hearing, so we will obviously meet that,” Dee said.
The city must file its budget with the State by July 31, Dee said.
