DeLuca Hosts Successful Seminar Teaching Women Basic Self-Defense Techniques
Several area women learned self-defense in a class sponsored by State Rep. Anthony DeLuca
Recently, State Rep. Anthony DeLuca (D-Chicago Heights) held a free Women’s Self-Defense Seminar that offered instructions on how women could defend themselves in dangerous situations. Instructors were Masters Daniel Kocsis (6th Degree Black Belt) and Master Cathy Kocsis (4th Degree Black Belt).
“I am glad our seminar was able to assist so many women by making them aware of some of the very basic techniques and strategies they can use if they happen to find themselves in a dangerous situation,” DeLuca said. “If we were able to provide necessary tools and enough information to help the women in attendance protect themselves from danger, we have accomplished our goal.”
The seminar achieved a great turnout from local women with 30 in attendance. Master Daniel Kocsis has had more than 36 years in training, and numerous awards to his name. He is a 10 time State Champion, and a 2 time National Champion in Taekwondo. Master Kocsis was inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame, has developed over 250 Black Belts, over 300 State Champions, and 40 National Champions. He has also conducted numerous self-defense clinics for U.S Army Special Forces, Law Enforcement and private groups.

“Knowledge is power and being aware of your surroundings and knowing basic self-defense techniques provides the knowledge to protect oneself when danger approaches,” DeLuca added. “I will continue working to extend opportunities such as the self-defense training event to my constituents, and I will continue my efforts to increase public safety in the Southland.”
